FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • False eyelashes, also known as lash extensions, are a cosmetic enhancement technique that involves attaching synthetic or natural fibers to your natural lashes. This process results in a fuller and more striking appearance. These extensions come in a wide range of lengths, thicknesses, and curvatures, allowing for a customizable and personalized look that suits your preferences.

Products used at J. Marie Lash & Beauty are only the highest quality in the industry. I use synthetic, animal cruelty-free, vegan faux mink, applied individually to the natural lash. The adhesive is medical-grade, low fume, and latex and formaldehyde-free.

  • Lash extensions last according to your natural lash cycle when cared for properly. This cycle can vary, usually spanning 2-4 weeks. To maintain their optimal appearance, I suggest scheduling fills every 2-3 weeks. Enhance your retention with an aftercare kit available for purchase at J. Marie Lash & Beauty studio.

  • The duration of lash extension application can vary depending on the number of natural lashes. Classic full sets usually take 2-2.5 hours, Hybrid full sets 2.5-3 hours, and Volume full sets 2.5-3.5 hours. Fills generally take 1.5-2 hours, depending on lash growth. During fills, I carefully remove outgrown extensions and replace them to maintain lash health and ensure optimal retention.

  • Rest assured that when applied correctly, lash extensions will not damage your natural lashes. With proper isolation techniques and careful consideration of the weight and length of the extensions, your natural lashes remain safe and unharmed. It is my expertise as experienced, certified, and a licensed lash artist, that ensures the highest level of care for the integrity of your natural lashes. Your lash health is always my top priority.

  • Certainly! While wearing lash extensions, it is possible to use eyeliner and mascara. However, I strongly advise using only products that are specifically designed for use with lash extensions. It's crucial to avoid oil-based products, as they can weaken the bond and cause premature shedding of the extensions. By following these recommendations, you can maintain the integrity and longevity of your lash extensions while still enjoying enhanced eye makeup.

  • Yes, absolutely! However, I recommend consulting your physician prior to scheduling your lash extension appointment. It's important to prioritize your health and ensure that the procedure aligns with your specific needs during pregnancy. During the appointment, please keep the following considerations in mind:

    • The procedure may involve lying on your back for a duration of 2-3 hours. To ensure your comfort, I provide pillows to support your legs and back.

    • Potential changes in hormones may affect lash retention, and you may require more frequent fills, possibly every 1.5 weeks instead of the usual 2-3 weeks.

    • It's important to be aware that pregnancy can vary from person to person, and not all individuals will experience the effects mentioned above.

By taking these factors into account and staying in communication with your healthcare provider, J. Marie Lash & Beauty can ensure your lash extension experience is as safe and comfortable as possible.

  • • To ensure the longevity of your lash extensions, I advise you to avoid water contact around the eyes for the initial 24 hours, including steam showers and steam rooms.

    • It is crucial to steer clear of oil-based eye products, creams, and mascaras that are not specifically formulated for use with eyelash extensions.

    • Opt for water-based makeup and makeup remover to prevent any damage to the lash extensions.

    • When removing makeup around the eyes, use a cotton swab to delicately cleanse the area.

    • Refrain from perming, tinting, or using an eyelash curler on your lash extensions.

    • Resist the urge to pick, pull, or touch your lash extensions with your fingers, as they can carry bacteria, oil, and debris.

    • Avoid sleeping on your face and consider investing in a silk pillowcase, which is beneficial for both your skin and lash extensions.

    • Schedule regular fills every 2 weeks to maintain the freshness and optimal appearance of your lashes.

    MOST IMPORTANTLY:

    • Cleanse your lashes daily using a lash foam cleanser to keep them clean and healthy.

    • Gently brush your lashes in the morning and evening while they are dry. After cleansing, use a handheld fan or a blow dryer on a cool and low setting to dry them while brushing.

If you wish to have your eyelash extensions removed, it is crucial to seek assistance from a trained lash professional and refrain from attempting to remove them yourself.

  • Engaging in regular exercise is a fantastic way to unwind and maintain a healthy physique. However, it's important to be mindful of the impact sweat can have on lash extensions, as the salt content may weaken the adhesive bond. If you tend to sweat profusely during your workouts, I suggest showering and cleansing your lashes immediately afterward using a suitable lash foam cleanser. Additionally, it's advisable to steer clear of environments with high heat and humidity. For instance, if you enjoy hot yoga, please bear in mind that your lash retention may be affected. It is highly recommended to avoid saunas and steam rooms altogether.

If you have an upcoming vacation that involves swimming in the ocean, I recommend scheduling your lash fill appointment earlier than usual and cleansing your lashes while they are still wet from the ocean. The same advice applies to instances of crying; make sure to cleanse your lashes while they are wet to prevent them from becoming stiff and brittle. Please keep in mind that you may experience a significant loss of lashes in such situations, and it would be best to book your fill appointment earlier than anticipated.

  • To ensure optimal results for your lash appointment, I suggest refraining from spray tanning for 48 hours prior to and following your appointment. Additionally, it is advisable to wear tanning goggles during the spray tanning process to prevent the tanning solution from coming into contact with your lashes. If you arrive at your lash appointment with a spray tan, please note that the eye pads used during the application may cause the tan to be removed.

  • • Kindly arrive at your appointment without any makeup and ensure your face is thoroughly cleansed.

    • It is recommended to avoid consuming caffeine prior to your appointment, as it may cause eye fluttering, which can hinder the lash application process.

    • During your appointment, please refrain from using your cell phone, as your eyes will be closed throughout the entire service.

    • Please understand that due to limited space, additional guests are not permitted during the appointment.

  • Allergic reactions are rare, but they can happen. During our consultation, we will discuss any allergies you may have, and I will provide detailed information about the signs and symptoms of an allergic reaction to lash extensions, as well as the steps I take to address it. If you have any concerns, I am happy to offer a complimentary patch test to ensure your safety. You can schedule a patch test by clicking HERE.

  • Determining if you're a suitable candidate for eyelash extensions involves considering a few factors. Ask yourself the following questions:

    1. Do you have any allergies or sensitivities to acrylates or cyanoacrylate adhesives? If you're unsure, it's best to consult with a professional or perform a patch test.

    2. Have you fully recovered from any recent eye procedures? It's important to ensure your eyes are in a healthy condition before getting eyelash extensions.

    3. Are you comfortable lying on your back for an extended period of time with your eyes closed? The application process can take up to a few hours, and maintaining a relaxed position is crucial.

    4. Can you commit to regular lash fills every 2-3 weeks? Eyelash extensions require ongoing maintenance to keep them looking full and looking their best.

    5. Are you willing to follow the aftercare instructions provided? Proper care, such as avoiding certain products and cleaning your lashes regularly, is essential for the longevity and health of your extensions.

By honestly evaluating these factors, you can determine if you're a good candidate for eyelash extensions and make an informed decision about whether they're right for you.
